The Royal Commission has heard from many people and organisations and has begun to form recommendations to improve aged care in Australia. COTA has taken an active role throughout to ensure that the voices of older people continue to be heard at the highest level and acted on. The Plug-in is very pleased to be helping COTA Australia in a consultation process to gather further feedback on the views of older Australians.
The Plug-in invites you to register your interest for one of three, online workshops in July, to be facilitated by COTA Australia’s Policy Officers, giving older South Australians the opportunity to express their views on these draft recommendations across three key topics:
- Design of the aged care system
- Funding and Finance
- Aged Care Workforce
Why is this consultation so important?
This consultation will ensure that the voices of older people continue to be heard as the final recommendations are developed for the Royal Commission.
This consultation will be conducted by Policy Officers from COTA-Australia using online focus groups so you can take part from the comfort of your home computer screen or tablet. Participants and their contribution will not be identified to the Royal Commission and your personal details will remain confidential within COTA.
If you’re interested in being part of this important feedback process, we ask you to select the topic that is of greatest interest to you, to ensure active discussion within each group with contribution from all participants. Further information on each topic will be provided to participants in advance of the workshop to ensure you are fully prepared for the discussion. Participants are asked to nominate which workshop they would like to contribute to.
The project will be conducted online via Zoom over 3 workshops;
• Aged Care System Redesign on Tuesday, 21st July 2020 at 10.30am
• Funding and Finance on Wednesday 22nd July 2020 at 10.30am
• Aged Care Workforce Issues on Thursday 23rd July at 10.30am
Each workshop will run for around 60 minutes. If selected, The Plug-in will email you all the details you need to click through to the workshop on the day. You do not need to download any special software –you will simply need internet access using a computer, tablet or smart phone with a camera.
