The Plug-in would like to invite you to take part in our newest project: an opportunity to share your thoughts on how health and aged care research findings can reach the older community.
We are delighted to be working with SAHMRI (South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute) through their Registry of Senior Australians (ROSA), to help their team of world-leading researchers explore how to best communicate their health and aged care research findings to those people who are most affected by it.
We want to hear your insights and experiences when it comes to learning about the latest health and aged care research and invite you to register for this important project.
Why is this project so important?
ROSA’s research monitors health and other outcomes of people receiving aged care services in South Australia and has impacts for the people using these services. It is very important that our older South Australians are strongly represented at every stage of the research process, including how the research is shared with the public.
To be involved in this project you don’t need to be an expert in research! Rather, we would love you to be involved if you feel you can contribute to the discussion as an older person who uses aged care and health care services as we explore the most effective ways to reach older people, and how to best communicate health and aged care research findings which may affect them.
You may have received health and aged care research through a variety of ways such as the media, or from your doctor. Now this is your opportunity to influence how future research is shared!
The findings from this study will help ROSA to share their important research far and wide. Your contribution will make a difference in health and aged care research being shared effectively, sensitively and ensure it reaches as many older people as possible, to help them make more informed decisions about the health and aged care services they use.
What’s involved?
There are a couple of stages to this project, the first is a workshop. In this workshop we will discuss the ways you would like to receive information about the latest health and aged care research, using examples of research findings from the ROSA research team.
The workshops will be 90 minutes in duration. If you are selected to take part you will receive a $50 gift card in recognition of your involvement. To register for the workshop, please click the link at the bottom of this page.
Light refreshments will also be provided at the workshop.
The second stage of this project is an online survey where we will ask for your feedback on the ideas that are developed in the workshops. You don’t need to be involved in the workshop to be invited to complete the survey.
Am I eligible?
As with all our projects, The Plug-in has a range of selection criteria for participants.
We are looking for people who are:
- Aged 65+ and have received an ACAT (aged care eligibility assessment from an Aged Care Assessment Team, organised through My Aged Care)
OR
- A carer or family member who would like to attend the workshop on behalf of someone who meets the above criteria but is unable to attend due to a health limitation.
AND
- Able to attend a 90-minute workshop on a weekday in a central Adelaide location.
