COTA SA’s The Plug-in, supported by Office for Ageing Well and Wellbeing SA, undertook a project exploring the ways in which older South Australians successfully navigate major changes, including events such as bushfires and floods, local economic changes, technological shifts, and the impacts of COVID-19.

Over the past two years, The Plug-in reviewed existing research on this topic and engaged with people aged 50+ across South Australia to understand what personal and community factors were needed for successfully navigating change. The insights and experiences that were shared with us by older South Australians have been collated and used to develop recommended actions that were shared with Office for Ageing Well and Wellbeing SA.

As part of this project, we have also developed a video report for people who took part or who may be interested to hear about what older South Australians felt helped them to successfully navigate change events. Please see the link below to watch the video:

Thank you to all of those who participated in the research, promoted and shared our project with the community, and assisted in the making of this video report. We would especially like to thank the Strath Neighbourhood Centre and volunteers for generously donating their time towards the video report. We would also like to thank Office for Ageing Well and Wellbeing SA for their ongoing support of The Plug-in and COTA SA.
