We want to hear your thoughts, ideas and aspirations for what aged care and retirement should look like in the future.

Do you feel like retirement living and aged care can be done differently? Do you care for someone and want to share your views on how you think they should be able to live and access care as they get older?

The Plug-in, the social enterprise of COTA SA, invites you to take part in our newest research project to talk all things retirement living and aged care on behalf of a leading provider on the east coast.

Why take part?

Our client is looking to create a new way of living for older Australians, using the latest innovations and technology to ensure all their customers and residents are supported to live their best and healthiest lives. This is an opportunity to have your say and help to design a new way of retirement living and aged care.

You will get to be amongst the first to view the plan for the site and the exciting new services that are proposed!

This project will inform the future directions for a retirement living and community services precinct for older people on the NSW South Coast site, as well as influencing the future developments from this provider.

Stage 1 — Focus groups and interviews

What’s involved?

This project will be undertaken in multiple stages. The first stage, a series of focus groups and interviews, will begin soon. Later stages involve a survey and further co-design workshops.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible to participate in this stage of the project, you must meet one set of the below selection criteria.

Online focus groups:

  • Aged between 50 – 80 years of age
  • Live independently in the community (i.e. not currently in independent/retirement or assisted living)
  • Interested in living in a retirement community in the future
  • Live in or would consider relocating the South Coast area in New South Wales
  • Able to participate in an online focus group of between 90-120 minutes in duration.

Video interviews:

  • Aged 50 years or above
    OR
    A carer/family member on behalf of someone aged over 50
    (note: the person AND a carer/family member can both participate in an interview if desired)
  • Feel that aged care will be required for themselves/family member/spouse in the future
    OR
    Have experienced having a family member/spouse in aged care
  • Able to participate in a video interview of up to 60 minutes in duration.

Those who are selected and participate in a workshop will receive a $60 gift card in recognition of their time and involvement. Those who are selected and take part in an interview will receive $40 as a thank you for their time.
