In the first half of 2023, we invited you to have your say about water in South Australia by sharing your experiences and views about your water use and needs.
What was involved?
The Plug-in asked you to think: How big a role does water play in your life and lifestyle? Do you need to manage water and what are your water needs? Do you think about how much water you use daily? We invited you to talk about your needs, usage, and attitudes to water in your local area.
In the first stage of this project, we explored the lived experiences of residents in regional South Australia in relation to their water usage and needs. We specifically talked to residents of the following areas:
- Goolwa and Victor Harbor
- Yorke Peninsula
- Yankalilla
- Peterborough – Mt Remarkable
- Quorn – Lake Gilles
- The Riverland
Thank you for your participation! The insights gathered informed the design of a community survey for Stage 2 of the project which was open to both regional and metropolitan South Australians.
Stage two of this research was a community survey with people aged over 50 living in both regional and metropolitan areas in South Australia. The survey further explored the community’s thoughts on water access, usage, and attitudes.
This project will help us learn more about how water access and use affect older Australians in regional areas. The findings will be used for advocacy and will help COTA SA and government develop policies and services that better meet the needs of older South Australians.
Your insights help us to discover the issues relating to accessing and using water, understand environmental considerations, and to explore ideas that will achieve better outcomes for water supply and service.
