The year of 2024…
The Plug-in’s Influencers have shared their thoughts and insights in a variety of projects that have been finalised over the last few months:
- The Plug-in partnered with the Office for Women on a year-long project to explore the unique experiences of older women in South Australia affected by Family Domestic & Sexual Violence (FDSV). Through research and engagement with service providers, community members, and lived experience advocates, the project identified key barriers to support, such as ageist and sexist attitudes, lack of awareness, and insufficient tailored resources. This work culminated in the creation and distribution of awareness-raising posters and advocacy for systemic change. You can read more about it here.
- The Plug-in collaborated with Flinders Medical Centre to support research aimed at designing healthcare systems tailored to older people who had experiences or are at risk of long COVID. The Plug-in supported with recruitment for this project, and you can find out more about it here.
- In partnership with the City of Adelaide’s Healthy Ageing team, The Plug-in facilitated co-design workshops with Adelaide and North Adelaide residents to develop a holistic social program for city residents. Insights emphasised the importance of fostering social connections and highlighted the value of activities supporting lifelong learning, emotional and spiritual wellbeing, and physical engagement. You can read more about it here.
- The Plug-in is currently collaborating with Flinders University Caring Futures Insititute team to provide consumer engagement for the development of clinical guidelines for the new Support at Home (SaH) program, aimed at improving restorative care pathways for older Australians. Through four workshops with consumers and allied health professionals, insights will be gathered to ensure the guidelines meet the needs of end-users and providers. The Plug-in team is currently gathering insights to inform the development of evidence-based guidelines to enhance the delivery of restorative care, due for completion in January.
