Public transport — Tell us why you do or don’t, will or won’t

The Plug-in invited ten older South Australians to share their stories and ideas to help us understand how we can support older South Australians to confidently use public transport.

COTA SA and The Plug-in worked with the Department for Infrastructure and Transport to explore the way older people understand and use public transport. Whether an avid public transport user or had never set foot on a public bus, we wanted to hear various experiences and learn from them.

The findings from this project will support COTA SA to develop an informative and accessible program that will help older South Australians to understand the ins and outs of using public transport, including things like how to plan trips, access timetables and being comfortable while in transit.

What was involved

We invited Influencers to contribute their ideas as part of a workshop. The workshop was a 90 minute casual conversation with 8–10 people talking about public transport. Workshops were held at locations across metropolitan Adelaide during September 2021.

Eligibility

To be eligible to attend a workshop you needed to be:

  • Aged 50 years or older, and
  • Able to attend a 90-minute workshop in Metropolitan Adelaide.

Those who were invited to participate in the workshop, received a $40 gift card in recognition of their time and involvement

We thank everyone who participated in the project — your contributions are greatly valued!
