Participation in this project is now closed. Thank you to everyone who participated in this important project.

The Plug-in was delighted to work with the Town of Gawler to develop an Ageing Well Framework that will be used to assist older residents to live healthy, enriched and connected lives.

To help better understand the needs of older residents in and around Gawler, we invited local community members to help us explore and understand what ageing well looks like and feels like in the Town of Gawler.

The feedback and insights gathered will inform the Town of Gawler’s Ageing Well Framework and underpin the Council’s approach to delivering and overseeing program, actions and services that will best assist older people in the community to live life to the fullest.

The project was carried out over two stages and we engaged with people who live in the Town of Gawler or surrounding areas and who wanted to help create a brighter future for ageing residents, to participate in workshops (stage 1) and a community survey (stage 2).

Stage 1 — Community workshops — COMPLETE

In this stage of the project, we explored what it looks and feels like to have a community that supports you to age well, and what role Council can play in making this a reality.

To better understand the needs of older local residents in and around the Town of Gawler, and identify any gaps in current services, we hosted three community workshops in December 2021. Thank you to everyone who participated and so kindly shared their experiences and ideas.

Stage 2 — Survey — COMPLETE

We invited people aged 50+ living in and around the Town of Gawler to share these through a survey. Participants shared different aspects of life in Town of Gawler and what role they felt the Council has to play in making it a place to age well.

The survey closed on 22 February 2022 and the data collected was analysed to help inform the Ageing Well Framework that has now been adopted by Town of Gawler. Thank you to everyone who kindly shared their experiences and reflections through the survey.
